Peer Support
The ECSD Peer Support Team was organized in April of 2018. The team currently consists of 22 employees representing different ranks, military background, shifts, and seniority throughout all of the departments facilities.
Over the past year, several members of the team have attended training specializing in areas that will assist their fellow co-workers. These areas include but are not limited to:
- Critical Incident Stress Management
- From Trauma to Addiction
- Substance Abuse Training
- Trauma Behind the Badge
- Correctional Officer PTSD
Currently ten members of the peer support team are certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). Members of the CISM team are able to provide assistance to staff members after a critical incident with defusing and debriefings and are able to provide references for continuum of care. Peer Support and CISM are always confidential. The ECCOA has no involvement in peer support, all inquiries made through this website remain confidential and are not forwarded to union representatives.
Employee Assistance Program
The Departments Employee Assistance Program can offer help in a variety of areas:
- alcohol/drug abuse
- financial issues
- domestic/marital/probate issues
- elder issues
- mental health counseling
Like the Peer Support Team all uses of this program are confidential.,
